It’s celebration time!
On Saturday, July 5, we’re throwing a party! The Spijkerparade is taking over Parkstraat for the day. Front gardens and balconies will transform into stages and platforms, with mini-events to experience, watch, hear, taste—and maybe even smell—throughout the street. Come and see! And just as important: join in! The Spijkerparade is a celebration for everyone, but also by everyone.

So, what exactly are we celebrating?
Our beloved Parkstraat—the bridge between North and South, East and West—has been beautifully restored. The final trees were planted on February 15, and the street has been returned to its former glory. It was quite an undertaking, so it’s high time for an official opening and a fantastic party! On July 5, we’ll also celebrate the volunteers and community initiatives that are not only beautifying Parkstraat, but the entire neighborhood. And, of course, we’ll be kicking off the summer holidays. Honestly—what aren’t we celebrating?
Calling all gardens and balconies!
Do you live on Parkstraat and have a garden you’re willing to turn into a temporary stage or platform? Sign up! Balconies are welcome too. Who knows—maybe a chess match will unfold outside your door, opera will echo from above, or you’ll find a surprising collection or a local volunteer group right on your stoop. Sign up here, where you’ll also find the participation guidelines and all further details.
Note: Only front gardens and balconies on Parkstraat can participate. Don’t live on Parkstraat? Don’t worry—there are still plenty of other ways to get involved.
Who, what, where?
On Saturday, July 5th, you’ll find all kinds of local initiatives along Parkstraat. Would you or your group, club, or association like to join the festivities? Wonderful! Sign up and be part of it!
The Spijkerparade starts at 1 PM and runs until 5 PM. We’ll wrap up with a neighborhood drink in the Watertuin.
Wander through the gardens
Without an audience, there’s no party. So step outside and head to Parkstraat! The Spijkerparade is for everyone in the neighborhood. You don’t need to register—just bring your neighbors, friends, or passersby, embrace the party spirit, catch the breeze, meet familiar and new faces, and enjoy all the beauty Spijkerkwartier has to offer.

Artists, hobby baristas, game masters, pastry chefs, nail-biting thrill-seekers, storytellers, performers, street curators, idea-makers, multitaskers and all other enthusiasts—gather ‘round!
This is your chance to show the neighborhood what you love, what you do, and what matters to you during the Spijkerparade. Turn a Parkstraat garden into a teahouse, a museum, a stage or a maze, and enchant your neighbors. Volunteer groups and cool local initiatives are also very welcome to shine.
